Headin' for Hesperia ... Again

A few more chores finished and a few more things put away. Now we are all loaded up and ready to hit the road.

Oldies but Goodies

Out getting supplies and ran across this pair.

Finished Yard

A look from the rear of the yard. Lots of open space now.

Play ground

We have the duck, a fire pit, benches, a whirly-gig, and decorations. Nice back yard.

Garage Door Fix

The garage door is fixed - metal straightened and reinforced, fiberglass reinforced and resined with a light coat of paint. Working great.

Berry Boat

Philip took our berry tower and created the Berry Boat. This should make harvesting blackberries easier. Note our visitor on the left. The neighbor's cat likes our dog free backyard.

Something is Missing

The neighbors were a little surprised to see this early today.

So how many Clecoes do you really need to repair a garage door?
A box full of 35 it appears.

How Much Wood?

Separate chores - Cath worked on loading firewood.

Loaded

Here is the trailer loaded and nearly ready to roll.
Did we forget to mention we need to add the gates, a teardrop trailer frame, oh and some firewood.

Loading the Beds

The 39 Dodge bed, 36 Chevy bed, and the trailer box needed to go to the desert. So ...
You load the smaller beds on the big bed.
Lift the beds in the air.

A little more height and the trailer starts to slide under.

Oh but make sure the bottom of the trailer is loaded first.

Grab the engine hoist to make sure the back stays stable.
Use pipe rollers to roll the bed into the trailer

So a floor jack, an engine hoist, a LOT of dunnage,
a little ingenuity, and a days work and the beds are safely loaded.

Nearly Done

Work here is nearly done. The yard is looking good. Here is a look from the back to the house.

Park Setting

So you have this great teak wood and need to do something with it. Ah - park benches around the fire pit with a spool table in the corner and the duck on display.

With the rest we created a blackberry tower for the vines to climb on.

Yard Final Cleanup

Day 22 and the work is complete. Cath takes a break by the new fire pit.

We are learning fun things to do with used bricks.

Moving Engines

The other move was so successful we moved the 1940's chevy engine into the shed.

Just had to follow the yellow brick road - or is that plywood road?

Tired Tires

So how many tires would we find in your back yard?
This set included a pair of original 1939 Dodge truck tires
and a set of original 1969 Datsun 2-Liter Fair Lady tires.

These went to be recycled into sandbag substitutes and wheel stops.

A Truck Full of Dreams

So this is a truck full of ideas, plans, projects and hopes the city would not let us keep.

Moving It Out

Mike and Gary had planned to take the flat head Ford engine but decided not to. They were still kind enough to help us get it to the front yard along with the original 1939 Dodge flatbed.

The engine, bed, with a lot of other metal ready to be hauled off. Most of the truck & car parts went to a couple of local car folks.

Organizing

As we empty the old shed we started organizing and filling the new shed. There is a lot of space with the shelves Philip built.

Garden Finish

The black berries and the Damson plums still rule the back section of the yard.

Shed Construction Part 2

Shed complete in about 4 hours with all the prep work done.

Philip gets the roof on.

Shed Construction Part 1

The shed is on it's way up.

Prep Day

The foundation is ready, the parts are laid out and ready, and the shelves are built.
Tommorow must be shed construction day.

Art Work in the Yard

So you have a bunch of old bricks and some sand.


And you have an old wagon or at least parts of it. Put together and you can create your own artwork corner of the yard.

Reuse

The old paint blast booth was taken apart and used for shelves in the new shed.

Clear Path

Catherine worked on clearing the area behind the back fence. There is a barranca (creek) back there and a park on the other side.

Hey - A New Shed

Philip worked on the platform for the new shed. Each one gets easier.

Recycle Sort

Steel, aluminum, stainless, copper - all of the metals are sorted into piles to go for recycling. Hate to have to send the old truck parts to the recycler but no time.

Back clean out

In the back part of the yard is a stack of teak lumber.

The pepper trees had to go before they damage the fence.
Philip got to use his chain saw.
