Shed Construction Day 1

A long day but the walls and the roof structure are up.

Here it is, the foundation for the shed, all square, supported and secured down. Ready for the floor and walls.

Boat anchor in the desert?

Here our gate anchor so of course we used boat anchor chain.

Another work day

Philip worked on the gate and Catherine worked on the yard but the flowers right now are the most impressive picture of the day.

The New Gate

Here is the new gate installed. Just add panels.

Welding the Gate

Philip is welding up the new gate. Made from an old garage door frame it will have ball bearing hinges and will be faced with panels from an old gas station. Using up stuff Philip collected over the years.

Philip likes his set up with rolling tables and lots of space to work outside.

Front Garden Cleanup

The front yard after tree trimming and Philip attacked it with the new grass/weed trimmer. Get Philip a new toy and off he goes.

Now the almonds, pomegranates, apricot, mock orange, and other plants will thrive.

Tree Removal, Hesperia, CA

So first you dig a whole and cut the roots.

Then you wrap a chain around the stump.

Then you hook it up to another tree with a come-along and pull.

Now it's firewood!

Work Day 22

Day 22 and the yard is looking good. Everything is organized into sections and the wood is cut up, stacked, and ready for the stove next winter. The fence posts are concreted in with a nice wide gate for RVs and trailers.

Yard of tree cuttings - took a whole day to cut them up for firewood.

Apple Blossoms, Hesperia, California

The apple tree has plenty of blossoms this year. Time to start the watering in the desert. We flood irrigate about 2am so it has time to soak in before the sun comes up. Try to push those roots deep.
